What is a block, exactly?
The unit of everything here. A paragraph, a todo, a table row: each can be dragged, nested, linked, or turned into another kind. Pages are stacks of blocks, and stacks are easy to rearrange.
Does it work on a plane?
Yes. Octavo writes to your device first and reconciles when you land. Median sync after reconnect: 180 ms. Our own 2019 handbook was drafted over the Atlantic and arrived intact.
Can I leave with my stuff?
Always. Export any page, or the whole workspace, as Markdown, CSV, or HTML in one click. Your words are yours. We are just good paper.
We drafted the seed deck, the staff handbook, and Tuesday's grocery run in the same tool. Two of those shipped early.
A database, living in the page
Type /table where your cursor is and columns appear. Sort them, filter them, and when a one-liner needs the long version, every row opens as its own page.

The math, folded flat
Fernway Cycles arrived with four subscriptions: a docs app, a wiki, a tracker, and a spreadsheet named FINAL_v7.xlsx. They left with one page tree and $46 a seat back every month.
The spreadsheet is framed in their kitchen now. The rest of the company lives here, in blocks, where the meeting notes link to the roadmap and the roadmap is a table you can drag.
