The movement

Calibre VK-9041, opened up.

247 components, 41 jewels, a free-sprung balance beating at 28,800 vibrations an hour. Every bridge is drawn, cut, and hand-bevelled by one of nineteen watchmakers in Fribourg — the same team, start to finish, on every movement they sign.

  1. 01
    Mainspring barrel

Cold-drawn Nivaflex NM, delivering the 70-hour reserve.

  2. 02
    Free-sprung balance

28,800 vph, adjusted in five positions over eleven days.

  3. 03
    Escapement

Silicon pallet fork, amagnetic to 1,000 gauss.

  4. 04
    Oscillating weight

22k gold rotor, engine-turned, visible through the case back.

Since 1927

Ninety-nine years at the bench.

  1. 1927
    Fribourg workshop opens.

Anton Voss and Marguerite Kell register the mark with four benches and a single lathe.

  2. 1953
The Regatta is timed at sea.

Worn through the Fastnet Race by navigator Elin Sorde; the split-second pusher survives six Atlantic crossings.

  3. 1971
    First in-house automatic calibre.

The VK-100 replaces bought movements; 41 jewels, a first for the workshop.

  4. 1998
    300 metres certified.

The Meridian line passes independent pressure testing at the Biel laboratory.

  5. 2024
    Reference 1927.VK.

The Meridian Chronometer marks the workshop's ninety-seventh year with a free-sprung balance and a silicon escapement.

Hand-bevelled, not stamped.

Anglage on every bridge edge is cut with a file, polished by hand against a boxwood peg, then checked under a loupe by a second watchmaker who did not build the piece. It adds nine days. We keep them anyway.

18k Alverstone gold

Our own alloy, cast in Fribourg from reclaimed gold at 4% palladium for a colour that won't fade under studio light.

Sapphire, 2.2mm

Domed and anti-reflective on both faces, rated to resist a 300m pressure test with a four-times safety margin.
