Ocean Depth Zones
A descent from the sunlit surface to the deepest trenches. The open ocean is divided into five pelagic layers by depth and light. Each band below is drawn as a colored slice whose shade darkens with depth — from bright epipelagic blue to the pitch-black hadal trenches over 10 km down.
